SYNOPSIS

En 1828, la famille Pyncheon en faillite se dispute Seven Gables, le manoir ancestral. Pour obtenir la maison, Jaffrey Pyncheon obtient la fausse condamnation pour meurtre de son frère Clifford. Hepzibah, la douce fiancée de Clifford, attend patiemment vingt ans avant qu’il soit libéré, après quoi Clifford et son ancien compagnon de cellule, l’abolitionniste Matthew, ont un certain plan en tête.
